Entropy 05:23
Entropy, It's late at night, or early morning, Quiet, listen to the breeze, open desert, jagged peaks Caves beneath, hidden in the ground, water drips, hidden wonders Entropy, The second law, Entropy, Increases with time Entropy, Friends I have known, Entropy, A lover’s embrace Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so, an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.

Why are you, just sitting in this place, complaining all day, say you hate it but you stay Why don't you, just get up and walk away, walk right out of this place, find somewhere better I know a man, he always worked real hard, he never made much more than nothing I never really knew him, but I've listened to him speak, I heard what was in his dreams and understood him I don’t know if this means anything I’ve lost the thread again I think the feeling we all share There has to be something somewhere I understand that your scared of what comes next, maybe we’ll fail the test, maybe we already have I feel the same way, can barely see through the gray Know there is no other way but forward I don’t know if this means anything… Hush my child, it was only a dream, monsters are not what they seem, but they can hurt you Go back to sleep, tomorrow is another day, never mind what they say, don't feel guilty

Sometimes I’m so small you can't see me Sometimes I’m taller than the trees Sometimes the light grows ever brighter Then the light dims so you can’t see In the dark of the early morn a silver trail flashes bright From the silent emptiness briefly in our sight People scurry around their so busy They’ve important things they have to get done Did our silver friend want to join them? Flashing bright then he is gone Gas flairs then spread their light, warming their young while they can Don't worry that you’ll go astray, I hope you will take the chance There’s a million stars in the sky, a million suns that are burning silently in the dark I can show you something better, I can carry you past the terror, of plunging into the night Calm down and open your eyes, Where we are going there are no lies, just let it all go Six sisters cluster round, hiding the 7th one When we see them then we’ll know, our journey has begun There’s a million stars in the sky, a million suns that are burning silently in the dark I can show you something better, I can carry you past the terror of plunging into the night Lay back and open your eyes, where we are going there are no lies, Just let it all go

Achilles 04:04
You can be Achilles, I’ll be Odysseus x2 Charge ahead, breaking walls, I prefer to go around You want to fight the good fight but I just want to get it done I was sitting on the stairway, in the Elks Lodge ornate foyer Doing nothing just watching the punks come and go The LAPD in riot gear came rushing into there And started marching up through the crowd ½ went into the show the rest formed a line and so Started pushing everyone down and out Everyone is yelling, pushing, cops are holding Dorothy swinging Jeff lurches forward to save her You can be Achilles, I’ll be Odysseus x2 Jeff and Dorothy are bleeding, it’s chaotic, churning, seething I push my way to them so we can get out of there We start walking back to my truck, their faces covered in blood Geza pulls up in his van and opens the door We climb in and he takes off but he doesn't know where a hospital is So we’re driving around kinda randomly Suddenly jumping out of his van Geza runs off yelling “I’ll find the hospital, just wait right there!” We make our way back to my truck, their bleeding long since stopped And we headed back to Orange County Meanwhile the word got out, Barbra heard that he sister was clubbed And she kinda went berserk She broke off a street sign and attacked the police line Breaking one of the cops hands The cops dog pile on her, with blows they restrain her And Barbara is bleeding as they take her to jail You can be Achilles, I’ll be Odysseus x2 Charge ahead, breaking walls, I prefer to go around You want to fight the good fight but I just want to get it done

The Island 04:19
There's a place far away, between dreams and life Built by a dweller of darkness and a creature of light The island rises - out of the ocean, in the Chukchi sea Whispered tales heard from a distance, does it exist, I cannot say It’s as real as you want it to be. It’s as real hope It’s as real as the past and future but it’s hard to hold The island harbors creatures, made of thoughts and dreams Tired spirits can take their rest there but know it's very hard to leave Come let's sail out on this ocean. We’ll brave the heaving seas Put your faith in the island. Where we all might, find some peace If only we believe The island rises - out of the ocean, in the Chukchi sea Whispered tales heard from a distance, does it exist, I cannot say It’s as real as you want it to be. It’s as real hope It’s as real as the past and future but it’s hard to hold Come let's set out on this ocean. We’ll brave the heaving seas Put your faith in the island. Where we all might find some peace If only we believe

Smoke 04:40
First in the mountains, the engine just wont start Then down in the valley, a sudden form and a crash Then again into the mountains so we don't have to tell Got stuck in a narrow lane now we can't turn around Finally off the mountain, wrong turn into a rail yard About 3AM we drive over the curb And decide to spend the night in the mall parking lot In the morning I open my eyes and sit up into a gray blue cloud Oh let me fly away Lets run, run to a better place I want to move, move this heavy weight We don't know, know any other way But we can't stay, we’re on our way He’s sitting in the RV in his underwear Cigarette in hand he asks “Do you think it’s worth it?” I’m trying to catch up, I ask him “Is what worth it?” Life is all he said After that it all worked out and everything was fine At family gatherings, that story always gets a laugh But knowing what I know now, it’s a lot less funny But I’ve laughed so hard it took my breath away Oh let me fly away….. He longed to fly away .…..

about

What you have before you is the freshman effort of Gebidan, telling stories of family dynamics, punks vs police riots, political commentary and what we hope you will find beautiful, psychedelic, melancholy slices of what passes for the American Dream from those who have lived it.

Gebidan began with the happy coincidence of Bassist MIke Patton, former OG pioneer from the late 1970’s Southern California Punk Scene having moved at the end of the Pandemic to Athens Georgia. In such a strange place compared to his familiar So Cal haunts he posted his profile on a musicians meet up site and was contacted by Geoff Knott a guitarist from Albuquerque, New Mexico who had moved to Athens at the beginning of the COVID scourge. After playing together for a year or so, with a fist full of post punk, alternative rock songs, began looking for additional members to flesh out the group. Soon Dennis Doherty guitarist and Daniel Whitman drummer completed the band, often joined by Drew Costa on Keyboards. The band completed this album, Entropy.

Other Things to say: We hate having to label our music. It is muscular, rocking, spacey, silly at times, melancholy; a mishmash of styles that shouldn't work together but in our not so humble opinion definitely does. There are no rock stars in this band, all credit is shared equally. We are not kids, we have been playing for many years and have experienced life in all its conflicted glory. Mistakes have been made, successes achieved, defeats endured. This music is a reflection of that. We hope that you can relate and perhaps recognize yourself and your life experience within these songs. It is our way to communicate with you. We hope what you hear will speak to you, as so much music has spoken to us over the years. We are not alone in this journey, it only feels that way.
